Watch out for those strawberries!
Strawberries are an amazing fruit. Brilliant red in color. Extremely tart and sweet at the same time. Potent concentrations of vitamin C. Entire cultures have grown up around this one fruit. But we've all seen the story line. TV and Movies. The character eats a strawberry or has it's nectar slipped into their drink. Their face swells up and their eyes and ears begin to itch. If they don't have an antidote or get help immediately they are in real trouble. This is known as a food allergy, and it is extremely common. While strawberries are supposed to be great for your body, this isn't the case for everyone. A severe allergic reaction is not only a possibility. It happens all the time. Hives, bumps, swelling, itchiness, and more. In severe cases, anaphalactic shock can impair breathing, and yes, even cause death. If there's even the remotest possiblity that the victim is not improving, get them some help. |
