Live Long And Prosper

We all have a choice. To live a long, productive, healthy life full of abundance. Or to squander that opportunity. For some inexplicable reason, most choose the latter path. If you are determined to avoid the majority, and join the elite few who have it all figured out, here are some hints:

Choose To Be Wealthy

This may seem silly on the surface. Who wouldn't choose to be wealthy? The answer is: plenty. No, MOST never do. You must embrace wealth, in order to enjoy it. You must make it a part of your thinking. You must be comfortable with people calling you a wealthy person. It must become a part of your personal philosophy. If it doesn't, no amount of effort will ever get you there.

Get An Education

Now, I'm not saying to become a professional student. In fact, just the opposite. There seems to be an inverse proportionality between great wealth, and really advanced educations in many cases. The harder you study, the less you are worth. Also, education tends to be institutional. It's not "street smarts" but musty, outdated books that are the backbone. Wealth, almost all wealth, comes from the seat of your pants learning. The "college of hard knocks" - Failing, learning from your failure, getting up, dusting yourself off, and going at it again.

Develop An Attitude

Optimism and a positive mental attitude is contagious. So much of great wealth revolves around WHO you know, and not as much WHAT you know, that your attitude becomes one of your most important assets. Get one. Get a good one! And take care of it. Protect it from harm. Nurture it with good books, good people, good ideas. And it will serve you well.

Learn The Power of Wealth Compounding

Read The Richest Man In Babylon if you haven't already. Learn how to pay yourself. Learn NOT to eat the children of your earnings. Go back and gather some basic math and bookkeeping skills. Those are golden when developing your wealth. If you aren't saving, you're just kidding yourself. Start. And then never stop.

Give Back

Embrace the Law Of Tenfold Return. Everything you put out in the universe (good and bad) comes back to you. For better or worse. Think about what you are putting out. Make it a goal to give more. To do more. Be the hero. Step up.

Take Time Out For Yourself

What is your greatest asset? Your mind and your health. You're worthless without these two key ingredients. So take care of them. Rest. Get enough sleep. Eat right. Exercise. Pay attention to your family. Take vacations. Recharge. Invest in your own personal development. Few people do. You're different. You know how important it is.

Avoid The Biggest Risks

Are you regularly traveling into a war zone? Is this your third year in a row trying to climb Mt Everest? Do you love helicopter skiing or aerobatic flying? There's nothing wrong with some risk-taking in life. It's part of being human. But think about the risks of your activities and how they effect your loved ones and your prospective longevity. You wouldn't be the first person to get stuck in the wrong place on an ice-climb, or suffer a catastrophic engine failure at the wrong moment. Think about it. This also applies to long-term investment strategies. Are you drilling for oil in Alaska? Did you just sink a ton into some hair-brained import-export scheme? Risks are everywhere. Evaluate them with a cool head.

Stay Balanced

Eastern religions are all about balance. Yin and Yang. Westerners are late to the table. Look at your business, spiritual, family, recreational, and social life from a balance perspective. Regularly, re-evaluate how balanced you are. Don't be afraid to re-balance things.
