Insect Bites can be a real problem in summer
When the temperatures rise, the bugs come out. Sometimes, they can spoil all the fun. Kids love to play outside in warm weather, and they run head-first into all the insects. As temperatures cool in the evening, if the kids are out, the insects are out in force, prepping their webs, protecting their hives, taking care of business that's just not possible in the heat of the day. Encounters are much more common then. If a child gets too close, they get bitten. It's pretty common to experience an allergic reaction to an insect bite. It's a foreign chemical, injected directly under the skin. Human bodies don't like that. So, they react. Swelling will occur if it's a bite. As time goes by, the reaction can become more severe. The best defense for these events is to go on offense. Clothing, netting, insect repellent, all serve to reduce or eliminate the bit or sting in the first place. When it does happen, seek medical attention, especially if the symptoms are severe. |
